Simple Demo Recorder
Automatically starts recording a client-side demo when a player joins, so you always have a recording to review for bans/appeals.
Version: v2.0.1
Installation
Install from the game panel (recommended)
Step 1) Open your console and select your Counter-Strike 1.6 server.
Step 2) Go to TOOLS → Plugins (the in-panel installer).
Step 3) Find Simple Demo Recorder in the list and click INSTALL — the panel downloads it and places every file for you automatically.
Step 4) Set the CVARs / configuration shown below (if any), then RESTART the server.
Manual installation (FTP / File Manager)
Step 1) Download the archive above and unzip it on your computer.
Step 2) Open your console → File Manager (or connect over FTP) and upload the plugin files:
crx_demorecorder.amxx→cstrike/addons/amxmodx/plugins/
Step 3) Open cstrike/addons/amxmodx/configs/plugins.ini and add the plugin on a new line:
crx_demorecorder.amxx
Step 4) Restart the server. Check that it loaded with amxx plugins in the server console.
Need the basics first? See How to upload plugins and How to compile a plugin.
CVARs
| CVAR | Default | Description |
|---|---|---|
dem_delay | 1.0 | Delay (seconds) after joining before recording starts. |
dem_msg_delay | 10.0 | Delay before the 'you are being recorded' message is shown. |
dem_name | %name%_%map% | Filename pattern of the demo (supports tokens like name/map/date). |
dem_message | ... | First message shown to the player about the recording. |
dem_message2 | ... | Second/!follow-up message. |
dem_time_format | %Y-%m-%d | Date format used inside the demo filename. |
Where to set them: add the CVARs to
cstrike/addons/amxmodx/configs/amxx.cfg(one per line, e.g.amx_vampire_hp 15). Changes take effect after a map change or a server restart.
Notes
Demos are written on the player's machine (standard record behaviour), not on the server.
