Advanced Quake Sounds
The classic Quake-style announcer: plays kill-streak sounds (Double Kill, Multi Kill, Monster Kill, God Like …) with on-screen messages, plus a /sounds toggle for players.
Version: v6.2
Installation
Install from the game panel (recommended)
Step 1) Open your console and select your Counter-Strike 1.6 server.
Step 2) Go to TOOLS → Plugins (the in-panel installer).
Step 3) Find Advanced Quake Sounds in the list and click INSTALL — the panel downloads it and places every file for you automatically.
Step 4) Set the CVARs / configuration shown below (if any), then RESTART the server.
Manual installation (FTP / File Manager)
Step 1) Download the archive above and unzip it on your computer.
Step 2) Open your console → File Manager (or connect over FTP) and upload the plugin files:
AQS.amxx→cstrike/addons/amxmodx/plugins/AQS.ini→cstrike/addons/amxmodx/configs/- The
soundfolder →cstrike/sound/
Step 3) Open cstrike/addons/amxmodx/configs/plugins.ini and add the plugin on a new line:
AQS.amxx
Step 4) Restart the server. Check that it loaded with amxx plugins in the server console.
Need the basics first? See How to upload plugins and How to compile a plugin.
Configuration
Advanced Quake Sounds is config-file driven — it has no CVARs. Everything is edited in AQS.ini:
| Setting | Description |
|---|---|
ENABLE/ DISABLE PLUGIN | 1 = plugin on, 0 = off (no sounds are precached when off). |
ENABLE/ DISABLE CHAT | 1 = allow the /sounds chat command that lets players mute the sounds for themselves. |
ENABLE/ DISABLE JOIN | 1 = tell players about the /sounds command when they join. |
HUDMSG RED / GREEN / BLUE | Colour of the HUD text (0–255, or _ for a random value). |
KILLSTREAK EVENT | 1 = enable the kill-streak announcer. |
SOUND = n REQUIREDKILLS k | Defines each streak sound: how many kills it needs and which .wav to play. Add or remove lines freely. |
File:
cstrike/addons/amxmodx/configs/AQS.ini— edit it in the File Manager, then change the map or restart the server to apply.
Notes
Any .wav you reference in AQS.ini must exist in cstrike/sound/ or it will not play. The bundled sound folder already contains the default set.
